Kirk Nystrom’s Professional Bio
Kirk Nystrom has practiced law in Topeka for over 30 years. He primarily deals with wills, powers of attorney, living wills, trusts, probate, estate planning, real estate and small business law. He received both his B.B.A. and his juris doctor from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. While in business school, he received the distinction of being a school of business scholar and belonged to the Sagamore Honor Society. He received his advanced law degree, an L.L.M. in taxation, from the University of Missouri at Kansas City (UMKC).
He has taught Real Estate Fundamentals at Washburn University. While in law school, he marketed real estate as a real estate broker.
As a lecturer, Kirk regularly presents seminars to lawyers, churches, civic groups and other professional organizations on estate planning, probate, real estate and trusts.
Kirk belongs to various organizations, including: the Kansas Bar Association (Probate and Real Estate Sections), the Topeka Bar Association, the Northeast Kansas Estate Planning Roundtable, the Topeka Probate Bar and the Christian Legal Society.
He has served as an officer in various community organizations, including: Shawnee County Community Action, Save the Historic Jayhawk Theater, Church Board, Boy Scouts of America, Cair-Paravel Latin School, School Board and Christian Neighbor Center (an outreach to the disadvantaged).
Karin, his wife of 30 years, is his legal secretary. Robert Stockton, a fellow attorney, assists in the office.
Kirk Nystrom’s Personal Bio
Kirk tries to make Christ the center of his legal practice.
In Alaska, he spent three years as a self-supported missionary, where he helped build a Christian school, working outside in the winter at 27 degrees below zero.
Kirk and his family are involved with Lay Witness Missions, where laypersons share their faith stories in traditional churches to encourage others. Kirk and his family have been to Australia on a mission and hope to go back to Ukraine.
Kirk is the president of the Topeka Full Gospel Businessmen Fellowship. He follows in the footsteps of his late father, Dr. C.A. Nystrom, who was the president of that fellowship for many years. His mother, Virginia, has been quite active in Women’s Aglow.
Kirk and his wife have two grown children. Matthew, 33, is a faith based documentary filmmaker, married to Brui, a spanish interperter for Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, AZ Anna, 30, has a teaching degree in English as a Second Language, speaks Spanish like a native, and teaches English (and Spanish!) to businesspeople in Saltillo, Mexico.
